Campus Life
Living on a beautiful campus, students have the chance to engage in various activities that foster friendship with each other. The Student Council leads autonomous activities in which students are able to develop their potential as leaders and experts The student body advances creative opinions and suggestions on school affairs and the GIP life. Students are active at the GIP and their opinions are well received by the faculty and administration alike. Every students is encouraged to maintain a healthy balance between mental, physical and spiritual activities to develop a well-integrated and full personality. The GIP provides support for diverse activities in terms of facilities, equipment, expertise, and opportunity.
Community Life and Human Relations
Students live together during the regular semester in 'Sam-jeong-seo-heon,' the dormitory. It translates as 'right knowledge, right judgment and right action,' as these are the purposes of Sam Jeong Haeng. Under this principle, students are able to learn community life and develop peace-oriented, democratic personalities. Dormitory life fosters friendship, brotherhood and understanding. Students organize small groups according to their academic and leisure interests. Activities include foreign language learning and study groups, and hiking, badminton, tennis, and Kendo clubs. Students are encouraged to discuss matters related to human life and philosophy as well as their field of specialization.
Self-Reflection through Meditation
Meditation is a daily campus-life activity. In the meditation room, students prepare a daily plan through self-reflection and a vision for the future. Students go to the meditation room to seek tranquility and reflect on their individual futures and the status of global society.
The Hall of Peace
A major feature of the Kwangnung campus is the main building where classes are held. It consists of classrooms, seminar rooms, a language practice laboratory and faculty research rooms In the grand auditorium, big events like conferences as well as the entrance ceremony, the graduation ceremony, and international seminars are held. A replica of the Korea's National Assembly is on the first floor of the main hall where mock parliament is held regularly.
Personal Research and Information Access (Library)
The newly-built library is the best place for students to study. Many books and various periodicals are available, and a spacious room for studying and reading is also provided. Librarians are always on call to assist students to find information and use the computers. Special lectures are held in the seminar room. The computer room is always open for students who want to prepare reports and surf the Internet. There is a computer class for students to manage their own homepages and learn to use various kinds of software.
Physical Fitness (Indoor gym)
Students are able to physically train at any free time. The indoor gym provides equipment for weight lifting, badminton, basketball, tennis, table tennis, and Kendo. Many students are top-notch badminton players and a sizable number train regularly in Kendo, the ancient martial art. Students can learn Kendo from a specialized master, and most members become very skillful by the time of graduation. Students, faculty members and administrative personnel hold athletic matches to foster camaraderie.
The Peace Tower and Promenade
The Kwangnung campus has a fine view and ascetically pleasing atmosphere. It is a place to be calm, think, and meditate. Students are encouraged to discuss issues with each other, not only in class but also through outdoor and casual meetings. Students and professors often take a stroll to the Peace Tower, which has a beautiful frontal view. The tower is inscribed with 'Peace is more precious than triumph.'
